So it was a staredown.  Who would win?  I felt that I had won since I came away with several very useful reference shots of my kitty Coco.  Coco, being a cat, was certain that she had won by virtue of her indifference.  It’s a cat’s life.

How Sad is that Doggie in the Window?

Oil on Gessoed Board (10x8 in)
SOLD

While on a recent visit to Old Quebec City, we were walking down one of the many narrow cobblestone streets and came across this scene of a lonely looking hound, peering out the window, oblivious to all the people milling by.  He seemed to be looking for something; perhaps his master was overdue, thus his look of longing.  With the wonderful contrast of the dark interior against his golden fur, I just had to turn it into a painting.

A Proud Canadian

Oil on birch panel (10x8 in)
Not for sale

Harley is an adorable gal, the much-loved pet of friends of mine.  She didn’t care too much for having her picture taken, so again, it was a challenge to get a good reference picture to use for this painting.  But she tolerated me for a bit as she gazed out from the cottage deck on to the river below.  Alas, the moment was fleeting and she soon turned her attentions to other things, having something much better to do than to pose for the paparazzi.
